I have been designed scenery, lighting and projections for theatrical productions in various cities in the US and Canada including Calgary, Vancouver and Thunder Bay, ON.
Currently, I am an Assistant Professor of Theatre Design in the Theatre and Film Department at the University of Winnipeg. Thrilled to be collaborating with the talented faculty, staff and students at the Asper Centre, I am excited to work with the talented community of artists who call Winnipeg home.
One of my goals as a researcher is the development and execution of integrating projections, specifically video, into the scenographic process. This integration should be an exploration between the actor and the technology more than just another layer of visually stimulating the audience. As a scenographer, one creates a single image using the playing space, fabric on the actors and light to show/not show the action. Each of these elements blended together seamlessly create a picture. Integrating video projections into this equation should not be any different.
Some of my more recent works have been Magnus Theatre's A Miracle on 34th Street, Concord Floral, Love and Information, The Jungle Book, Savage Love and Vieux Carré. I have also been an art director for various film & television productions in Vancouver, BC.
A proud member of the Associated Designers of Canada, I received his Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of British Columbia, and his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Calgary.
I have also taught at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Augustana College, IL and University of Minnesota, Morris.
